I´m not much of a reviewer but I´ll give it a go. First of all, I am very impressed by the stand.
The build quality is top notch. The metal frame is sturdy, the knobs and buttons feel good and setting the panel up was straightforward. I´m using Honeycomb yoke and levers so the extra risers were needed. There´s bit of an air gap between the panel and the yoke so I lowered the panel with homemade 9mm spacers.
I´m using MSFS 2020 on Win 10 and the process was just as described. It was indeed plug and play, but I wished there was more info on how to set up the screens in the Aviatek Connector menu. At first many knobs weren´t working at all or adjusted the wrong screen. But when I assigned the GDU040 and GDU044B to their correct monitors it was like magic. So, now I have all the controls and menus the sim can provide.
I´m an armchair pilot so I can´t comment how realistic the G1000 unit is, but it´s a huge leap for my flying experience. I´ve spent many happy hours soaring the virtual skies and occasionally despairing the G1000´s labyrinth-like menus.
The panel looks and feels good so the overall experience has been first class. I can warmly recommend it if your wallet can take the hit.
I do have some minor issues: I don´t feel good about the 12v transformer. It gets really hot after a while and I wish there was a proper power switch. I can switch off the computer and pull the plug but it´s not very convenient.
But all in all I´m very happy and the panel has nearly eliminated the need for a mouse and keyboard.
So I´m giving it a big thumbs up and thank you Aviatek!
Yours truly, Timo
